The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom Sit at the foot of a native elder and listen as great wisdom of days long past is passed down. In The Four Agreements shamanic teacher and healer Don Miguel Ruiz exposes self-limiting beliefs and presents a simple yet effective code of personal conduct learned from his Toltec ancestors. Full of grace and simple truth, this handsomely designed book makes a lovely gift for anyone making an elementary change in life, and it reads in a voice that you would expect from an indigenous shaman. The four agreements are these: Be impeccable with your word. Don't take anything personally. Don't make assumptions. Always do your best. It's the how and why one should do these things that make The Four Agreements worth reading and remembering. --P. Randall Cohan

The Mastery of Love: A Practical Guide to the Art of Relationship: A Toltec Wisdom Book

Book Description: In a refreshingly honest investigation of the true nature of love, don Miguel Ruiz brings to light the commonly held fallacies and misplaced expectations about love that permeate most relationships. In the tradition of Carlos Castaneda, he uses inspirational stories to impart the wisdom of three fundamental Toltec masteries (Awareness, Transformation, and Love). The themes explored include the Toltec wisdom of the heart, the track of love, and the war of control.

The Voice of Knowledge: A Practical Guide to Inner Peace As little children we know how to live in the moment and be completely authentic. But then something damaging happens to us, according to author Don Miguel Ruiz: we are given "knowledge" about how to live in the world. Parents tell us how to behave in order to be a "good" boy or girl. Teachers tell us what it takes to be a "winner" or a "successful" adult. This collective "voice of knowledge" is not only false--it is often poisonous, explains Ruiz, bestselling author of The Four Agreements It makes us believe that "I am not the way I should be; it is not okay to be me." Drawing upon the story of Adam and Eve, Ruiz refers to the forbidden tree of knowledge and likens the abandonment of the true self to the fall from heaven. What Ruiz calls "the voice of knowledge" others spiritual teachers might call ego--the hidden and carefully defended belief system that prevents us from living and expressing who we really are. "The structure of our knowledge makes us feel safe….When we discover that we are not what we believe we are, the foundation of our entire reality begins to collapse." In the Toltec tradition, Ruiz says every human is an artist, "and the supreme art is the expression of the beauty of our spirit." He explains that there are two kinds of artists: "the ones who create their story without awareness, and the ones who recover awareness and create their story with truth and love." The recovering of awareness is what this fourth book in the Toltec Wisdom series is all about. This makes for a good bedside spiritual growth book. Each chapter closes with "Points to Ponder"--summary thoughts to sleep upon as you create the more authentic story of your life. --Gail Hudson

Beyond Fear: A Toltec Guide to Freedom and Joy: The Teachings of Don Miguel Ruiz

Book Description: Fear is the source of all of the negative agreements we've made with life. It can alienate us from the joy that is our birthright. When we are able to look at our lives without fear or judgments, we realize that reality can be whatever we want it to be. Beyond Fear leads seekers of the Toltec way of freedom and joy on their spiritual journey into a state of empowerment.

More expansive and in-depth than The Four Agreements, Beyond Fear contains information on life after death, prophecies about the evolution of humanity, and exercises and ceremonies to walk readers through the process of shedding fear and becoming spiritually and emotionally alive.

The Toltec Way: A Guide to Personal Transformation Like Don Miquel Ruiz, author of the bestselling book The Four Agreements, author Susan Gregg teaches readers how the ancient Toltec tradition can apply to life in the 21st century. For those who haven't watched Oprah lately, the Toltecs were an ancient race of people who flourished in Southern Mexico around 800 AD. "They were also a secret society dedicated to preserving the knowledge of the 'ancient ones,' who were great spiritual masters," according to Gregg. Gregg explains that the Toltec tradition is a way of seeing beyond our perceived sense of reality and into an unlimited world of possibility.

Since Gregg is a dedicated teacher of this exciting (and yes, even faddish) Toltec tradition, she emphasizes basic tools and specific examples rather than obscure parables and philosophies. Chapter titles such as "Letting Go of the Past," "Finding a Happiness That Lasts," and "Where to Go for Support" sound more like self-help chapters than enticing discussions of mystical beliefs. But that's Gregg's point--why make this reality-blowing tradition obscure and inaccessible when its whole purpose is that of spiritual empowerment? As a push-up-your-sleeves-and-get-started primer, it can't be beat. But if you're looking for more lyrical or pensive prose, turn to Don Miquel or Don Juan. --Gail Hudson --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

Mastering the Toltec Way: A Daily Guide to Happiness, Freedom, and Joy

From Publisher's Weekly: This book of daily insights is structured according to the moon's cycles: it contains 13 chapters, each with meditations for 28 days, and readers are encouraged to begin a new chapter at a new or full moon. Gregg, author of "The Toltec Way" and "Dance of Power," draws upon Toltec wisdom and stories to help readers develop a heightened spiritual awareness, which she says is quite different from what the mind sees. She asks that readers commit themselves for a full year to the book's exercises, promising that their lives will "change dramatically" if they abandon themselves to the program. Throughout, visualization exercises offer opportunities to cultivate awareness. Although the stories stem from the Mesoamerican Toltec tradition, unusual source material for a New Age devotional, the advice in the book is fairly standard mind-body-spirit fare. Mastery of Awareness: Living the Agreements

Book Description: Dona Bernadette Vigil, the working partner of don Miguel Ruiz and a fully initiated Nagual woman, reveals the authentic tradition of Toltec self-mastery. * Includes exercises from the ancient spiritual path that take the practitioner from Jaguar Knight and Eagle Knight through Nagual Master. * Provides a program of 11 Agreements for continuing the spiritual journey. * Foreword by don Miguel Ruiz, author of the bestselling The Four Agreements.

The Toltec people of ancient Mexico possessed powerful knowledge, passed down secretly through generations of Naguals, that enabled them to achieve a remarkable psychic and spiritual balance. These spiritual warriors learned to discipline their thoughts and emotions, channeling their energy into unconditional love for themselves and others and transforming their world in the process.

With the understanding of one who has walked the path, dona Bernadette Vigil--a full Nagual, or shaman, in the Toltec tradition--guides readers through the effective training techniques practiced by Toltec warriors for centuries. By following the practices of the spiritual warrior, readers will experience the amazing sense of peace and contentment that comes from finally breaking free from layers of self-limiting thoughts and fulfilling their true potential as human beings. More than a handbook for personal change, Mastery of Awareness challenges readers to transform the collective dream of the planet.

The Toltec Path of Recapitulation: Healing Your Past to Free Your Soul Recapitulation is an ancient Toltec ritual that helps people resolve traumatic events by reliving them. Unlike modern regressive therapy that focuses on healing psychological wounds, The Toltec Path of Recapitulation is geared toward healing the energetic body, explains author Victor Sanchez. "When we talk about our energetic body, we are talking about something that is different from the ego," Sanchez writes. Instead, it is the "energy surrounding the physical body, which is known as the aura; feelings, and the dream body." Using a 10-step technique, Sanchez shows readers how to enter a trance to relive the pain of the past, then start the process of energetic restoration. Readers may be alarmed to find that recapitulation takes place alone, inside a wooden box with a hinged door. Comfort comes in knowing that Sanchez, whose previous works include The Teachings of Don Carlos, is an ethical and skilled guide. He offers detailed instructions as well as strong caveats about who should and shouldn't embark on this intensive and rewarding work. --Gail Hudson

The Teachings of Don Carlos: Practical Applications of the Works of Carlos Castaneda

Rev. Jeff says: This was the first book to make the teachings of Don Juan and Carlos Castaneda accessible. A concise explanation of the terms and theories of the Toltec path as well as practical exercises.

Earthwalks for Body and Spirit

Additionally, the author focuses each group of exercises on a different aspect of transformation-there are walks of attention and awareness; group connection; connection to the nierikas (powers) of Sun, Water, Wind, Fire, and Mother Earth; connection to the energies of animals, trees, and places of power; and finally, as a way of honoring both your new understanding of Self and your deepened relationship with Earth, walks of offering and vision.

Song of Spirit : Volume One - Spirit of the Empty One, A Toltec Teaching Series

Book Description: Song of Spirit summons the reader to the process of awakening. Ancient teachings are introduced within three cycles of experience. An encounter with a Nunnehi shape shifter on Blood Mountain by a group of hikers brings the teachings of Song of Spirit to a point of deep implantation within the mind. The concepts of the known, the unknown, and the unknowable are thereby properly housed within the awareness. Mystery unfolds as “Intent releases the dream within; the journey of mystery thus begins.” The translation of Nagal Logute Iyapa is “Spirit of the Empty One.” Emptiness leaves a distinct impression of grasping at morning mists upon the mountaintop. A Nagal simply exists…as a reflection of Spirit. “We are but drops in the dream we weep, the one true mystery is the song we seek.”

Seeds Of Promise : Volume Two of "Spirit Of The Empty One" A Toltec Teaching Series

Book Description: The tiny fireflies of the universe never die. As guardians of the seeds of promise, they are an intricate part of the web of dreaming, existing in a timeless sea of energy. They teach us of the mysteries of the seven primordial movements, and the mystery of the eighth, the symbol of infinity. Within these movements we hear the voice, vibration and song of the life force. Whenever they move from dreaming into the realm of physical reality, the mystical fireflies produce specific sounds. These sounds alter the vibration of the field of energy of each sentient being. It is in this dream that the seeds of promise join their consciousness in partnership with these fireflies of the universe, gathering power to continue the journey of conscious evolvement. If the journey ceases, the life force dissipates until such time as there is a choosing to awaken again. This is what is meant by the ancient saying, "If you can't dream, you die." The hand of chance dictates the path of the Nagal as a reflection of Spirit. The Nagal works in the mists, summoning those who are ready for awakening and the Visitation of Mystery. See you in the mists...

What can we do to break free from our self-limiting doubts and fears - all that stops us from realising our full potential? The Mists of Dragon Lore, by Theun Mares, describes how we are imprisoned within the common dream - slaves to our past conditioning, with little control over our thoughts, feelings and reactions. In this book Theun Mares shows how we can use the techniques of the Warrior's Path to recognise the nature of the dream and gain the belief and confidence in ourselves to wake up to our full potential and claim our freedom. Once we have woken up in the dream - once we have started to realise our potential - Theun shows how we can take full control of the circumstances of our lives and carve out a unique life, based on our own dream - a life filled with joy and meaning. Having gone back to the very beginning, Theun goes on to show what freedom means for the warrior today, and how, in practical terms, we can set about achieving it in our lives.
